It was one of the first 2009L and 2010M revivals. It's also one of the only revivals that have access to RBXGS2010 right at this moment.
== History ==
Vortex would release in August 8th, 2025. In November to January it was advertised in revivals such as, Gudblox, Shopium, and etc as a 2009 revival. In February, the controversy started, such as Adri getting banned for no reason and TheRealHayder's racism and stealing from VORTEX. It was a goldblox skid in early February but changed to a original src (2009M) in late. Nothing happened until May where VORTEX became private, July where it became July 2009, then September 2009, October 2009, and now July 2010. There was also the Flaky controversy. In July 14, 2026, it was announced by a lead developer that there was going to be a web client. On October 26, 2026, NoWhere leaves VORTEX and gives cheaseman2092 owner.

THIS GUIDE ADDS A VULNERABILITY OR INSECURITY TO THE CLIENT, DO NOT USE IN PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENTS!

Trust Check is a security validation feature implemented on every Roblox client, it's main purpose is to validate if the domain (ex: roblox.com) matches the one that's implemented on the client which eliminates the purpose of other assets located on other websites from loading into a game server.
== Tutorial ==
To patch trust check, follow these steps

* Open x32dbg
* Go to the symbols tab and open the RobloxPlayerBeta.exe (or RobloxApp.exe) module
* Right click on the disassembler and then Search for -> Current Module -> String References
* When the results finish, type in
trust check
and results should come up
* In the string offset, scroll up until you find a JNE or JNZ instruction
* Replace JNE or JNZ with JMP (do the same with the other trust check functions)
* Patch the file
== RCCService Trust Check ==
`HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Roblox`
*Add DWORD "SkipTrustCheck" = 1 to disable trust check

Cheaseman2092:

This tutorial focuses on the topic of securely executing scripts without the need for messing with [[Trust_Check|security contexts]].

== Typical join script ==
Typically when writing a join script, you will encounter some context restricted actions such as using game:HttpGet or setting the player's name.

There is proof to support that this is how it worked with this (before bootstrapper handling it): https://web.archive.org/web/20071125221952/http://www.roblox.com/Game/PlaceLauncher.js which you can use for your place launcher as well

If you want to avoid these errors without having to screw over your client's security, keep reading:

=== ActiveX/COM Interfaces ===
If you have ever looked through old scripts that Roblox used such as PlaceLauncher.js you may have seen functions

such as [[WindowExternal#CreateGame()|CreateGame]] or StartGame before, and maybe if you tried to use these functions, they didn't work. Here is how to use them:

# In order for these functions to work you must have the proper typelibs registered, you can do this by:
# Run
cmd
as administrator and changing the current directory to your client folder (
cd %localappdata%/Roblox
, for me) and then,
# Run
RobloxApp /regserver
(or whatever your client is named instead of RobloxApp)

Once this is done, let's start using these functions.

=== Typelib Functions ===
Open a new javascript file and begin by writing in a new function for our join script execution process.

''It is recommended that you use the [[WindowExternal]] tutorial for this next part, as you can make better code than this.''

https://gist.github.com/TienMilkman/7b5298a53ba1002ef6497a5bddb5f7e1 - Spoonfeed copypaste code

=== Putting our function to use ===
In order for our function to actually open the game, we need to open our game first since typelib functions only work in the client

In all versions of Roblox, there is a home page other than ''Default.aspx'' that you are met with once you open your client, it is typically /IDE/Landing.aspx or /IDE/Start.aspx

So with that, you need your function to execute on the home page of the client, simply include your javascript file on it and call the function

Now whenever the client opens it will automatically send you into the game, but you also have to worry about people who want to open the client to browse the site, but you could easily use the bootstrapper to open it using
-browser
Once you run the .msi file, you should complete the installation

If you experience an error, it will likely require you to run the installer as administrator or to install an early version of IIS

You should find a WebService.dll file, which if you change to .exe, will work as a CLI tool that you can run via cmd

== Educational use ==
Note: Earlier RCCs typically require some sort of container such as RBXGSconhost

=== TO START ===
Once successfully installed, go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\ROBLOX Corporation\RCCService
(where it should be located)

Open up cmd and run the following commands to get your RCCService/RBXGS instance running

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ROBLOX Corporation\RCCService
rccservice.exe -console

If you see the following error:

''Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.''

Sift through your task manager and try to find a running RCCService instance, and close it, then run the command again.

You should now see

Intializing Roblox Web Service
setAssetFolder C:\ProgramData\Roblox\content\
Service Started on port 64989
Press ESC key to exit

=== TO INTERACT (TEST) ===
Download [https://github.com/vf9r/RCCService/blob/main/SoapUI.exe SoapUI]

Change
SOAP Action
to
HelloWorld

Press Execute

You should now see HelloWorld in your RCCService console

=== TO RENDER ===
Change
SOAP Action
to
OpenJob

==== CHARACTERS ====
On the right side where it says script, paste in

game.Players:CreateLocalPlayer(0)
game.Players.Player:LoadCharacter()
print(game:GetService('ThumbnailGenerator'):Click("PNG", 500, 500, true))

When completed, you should see a big blob of text in your console, which you must copy entirely and paste somewhere like [https://base64.guru/converter/decode/image this] to view.

Do not paste in the
table: 040DED08
with your base64 blob or it will break.

==== PLACES ====
In
C:\ProgramData\Roblox\content
paste in a .rbxl file you want to render

On the right side where it says script, paste in

game:Load("rbxasset://placename.rbxl")
-- change placename to the name of your rbxl file

print(game:GetService('ThumbnailGenerator'):Click("PNG", 500, 500, true))

When completed, you should see a big blob of text in your console, which you must copy entirely and paste somewhere like [https://base64.guru/converter/decode/image this] to view.

Do not paste in the
table: 040DED08
with your base64 blob or it will break.

== Production use ==

=== TIPS ===
In order to use RBXGS at a level of production you must take security into account.

When hosting game servers with the service, having an open port may lead to your revival's demise with a simple server side execution to grab and return everyone's IPs

Another thing you should take into account is optimization. Your average machine should be capable of running RBXGS fine without too much load, but any cheap $5 VPS may not be as capable.

Last and not least, you need automation. You shouldn't be interacting with the service on your own in order to do simple operations like renders and game servers; these should be automated through your sites code.

Writing an arbiter to have easy localized management over jobs isn't required but may be convenient for you, it isn't a simple task but will pay off.

This tutorial focuses on the topic of securely executing scripts without the need for messing with [[Patching:SecurityContext|security contexts]].

== Typical join script ==

=== ActiveX/COM Interfaces ===

=== Typelib Functions ===

Now whenever the client opens it will automatically send you into the game, but you also have to worry about people who want to open the client to browse the site, but you could easily use the bootstrapper to open it using
-browser

When installing RBXGS, an application named RCCService.exe will typically be installed leading us to believe that RCCService has just been the common name throughout Roblox's history.

Although RBXGS was in place from 2007-2008 until being replaced with RCCService in 2009.

== Installation ==
First of all, go to https://archive.org/details/rbxgssetup

You will be granted a download to rbxgssetup.zip, which when unzipped should contain tons of .msi files
{| class="wikitable"
|+''Below is a table of all versions which have found clients to correspond with them''
Once you run the .msi file, you should complete the installation

If you experience an error, it will likely require you to run the installer as administrator or to install an early version of IIS

You should find a WebService.dll file, which if you change to .exe, will work as a CLI tool that you can run via cmd

== Educational use ==
Note: Earlier RCCs typically require some sort of container such as RBXGSconhost

=== TO START ===
Once successfully installed, go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\ROBLOX Corporation\RCCService
(where it should be located)

Open up cmd and run the following commands to get your RCCService/RBXGS instance running

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ROBLOX Corporation\RCCService
rccservice.exe -console

If you see the following error:

''Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.''

Sift through your task manager and try to find a running RCCService instance, and close it, then run the command again.

You should now see

Intializing Roblox Web Service
setAssetFolder C:\ProgramData\Roblox\content\
Service Started on port 64989
Press ESC key to exit

=== TO INTERACT (TEST) ===
Download [https://github.com/vf9r/RCCService/blob/main/SoapUI.exe SoapUI]

Change
SOAP Action
to
HelloWorld

Press Execute

You should now see HelloWorld in your RCCService console

=== TO RENDER ===
Change
SOAP Action
to
OpenJob

==== CHARACTERS ====
On the right side where it says script, paste in

game.Players:CreateLocalPlayer(0)
print(game:GetService('ThumbnailGenerator'):Click("PNG", 500, 500, true))

When completed, you should see a big blob of text in your console, which you must copy entirely and paste somewhere like [https://base64.guru/converter/decode/image this] to view.

Do not paste in the
table: 040DED08
with your base64 blob or it will break.

==== PLACES ====
In
C:\ProgramData\Roblox\content
paste in a .rbxl file you want to render

On the right side where it says script, paste in

game:Load("rbxasset://placename.rbxl")
-- change placename to the name of your rbxl file

print(game:GetService('ThumbnailGenerator'):Click("PNG", 500, 500, true))

When completed, you should see a big blob of text in your console, which you must copy entirely and paste somewhere like [https://base64.guru/converter/decode/image this] to view.

Do not paste in the
table: 040DED08
with your base64 blob or it will break.

== Production use ==

=== TIPS ===

== Body Colors ==
A lot of people wonder how body colors are done through character appearances due to the immediate assumption that it's just setting the brick colors of the characters limbs

It actually is done through an API similar to /asset/, which returned an XML formatted version of the Body Colors object from your client.

Here is an example of what its contents looked like:<syntaxhighlight lang="xml">
</syntaxhighlight>Most revivals usually refer to the API as
/Asset/BodyColors.ashx
, but there is [https://archive.froast.io/forum/5223837 evidence] that suggests it may have been
/Data/Get.ashx

Each value in the body colors object should be set based on the users saved colors in their respective row in the user table of your database (or however it's organized)

In PHP, it is common to do something along the lines of
<?=$BodyColors->BodyPartName?>
in each value (between the >< of the integer element)

== How It Works ==
CharacterAppearance ultimately is handling a string of URLs that hold XML contents that can be inserted into the player's character.

'''EXAMPLE:'''
{| class="wikitable"
|+Player
!Property
!Value
|-
|CharacterAppearance (07-09M)
|<nowiki>http://www.roblox.com/Asset/BodyColors.ashx?userId=3;http://www.roblox.com/asset/?id=2</nowiki>
|-
|CharacterAppearance (09M-15)
|<nowiki>http://www.roblox.com/Asset/CharacterFetch.ashx?userId=3</nowiki>
|}
The contents of CharacterFetch.ashx is the same as the value of CharacterAppearance in 2007-2009 essentially

You have multiple URLs separated by semicolons (
;
) which defines the start of the next asset

Each URL contains an XML formatted Roblox object (can be found natively by right clicking on an object, then clicking
Save To File...
)

These URLs are looped through and each URL is handled to insert its contents into the player's character

== Tips ==
Sometimes certain classes contain child classes, and in order to access them you can access them via pointer math, example:<syntaxhighlight lang="cpp">
void* ScriptContext = 0x31D6928;
void* RunService = (DWORD*)ScriptContext + 0x148;
</syntaxhighlight>[[File:Ptrmath.png]]
As you can see when we view the ScriptContext class in [https://github.com/ergrelet/resym resym] we can see that there's a shared pointer of RunService 148 bytes ahead of the class itself

So we can do some quick math by adding the bytes to the original class pointer to get a child class or any variable that is, and you can go from class to class with this math as well

This tutorial focuses on the topic of securely executing scripts without the need for messing with [[Patching:SecurityContext|security contexts]].

== Typical join script ==

=== ActiveX/COM Interfaces ===

=== Typelib Functions ===

Now whenever the client opens it will automatically send you into the game, but you also have to worry about people who want to open the client to browse the site, but you could easily use the bootstrapper to open it using
-browser

RBXGS is the predecessor of RCCService, a service which provides thumbnails and gameservers just like RCCService.

When installing RBXGS, an application named RCCService.exe will typically be installed leading us to believe that RCCService has just been the common name throughout Roblox's history.

Although RBXGS was in place from 2007-2008 until being replaced with RCCService in 2009.

== Installation ==
First of all, go to https://archive.org/details/rbxgssetup

You will be granted a download to rbxgssetup.zip, which when unzipped should contain tons of .msi files
{| class="wikitable"
Once you run the .msi file, you should complete the installation

If you experience an error, it will likely require you to run the installer as administrator or to install an early version of IIS

You should find a WebService.dll file, which if you change to .exe, will work as a CLI tool that you can run via cmd

== Educational use ==
Note: Earlier RCCs typically require some sort of container such as RBXGSconhost

=== TO START ===
Once successfully installed, go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\ROBLOX Corporation\RCCService
(where it should be located)

Open up cmd and run the following commands to get your RCCService/RBXGS instance running

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ROBLOX Corporation\RCCService
rccservice.exe -console

If you see the following error:

''Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.''

Sift through your task manager and try to find a running RCCService instance, and close it, then run the command again.

You should now see

Intializing Roblox Web Service
setAssetFolder C:\ProgramData\Roblox\content\
Service Started on port 64989
Press ESC key to exit

=== TO INTERACT (TEST) ===
Download [https://github.com/vf9r/RCCService/blob/main/SoapUI.exe SoapUI]

Change
SOAP Action
to
HelloWorld

Press Execute

You should now see HelloWorld in your RCCService console

=== TO RENDER ===
Change
SOAP Action
to
OpenJob

==== CHARACTERS ====
On the right side where it says script, paste in
When completed, you should see a big blob of text in your console, which you must copy entirely and paste somewhere like [https://base64.guru/converter/decode/image this] to view.

Do not paste in the
table: 040DED08
with your base64 blob or it will break.

==== PLACES ====
In
C:\ProgramData\Roblox\content
paste in a .rbxl file you want to render

On the right side where it says script, paste in

game:Load("rbxasset://placename.rbxl")
-- change placename to the name of your rbxl file
When completed, you should see a big blob of text in your console, which you must copy entirely and paste somewhere like [https://base64.guru/converter/decode/image this] to view.

Do not paste in the
table: 040DED08
with your base64 blob or it will break.

== Production use ==

=== TIPS ===

== Typical join script ==

=== ActiveX/COM Interfaces ===

=== Typelib Functions ===
Open a new javascript file and begin by writing in a new function for our join script execution process.

''It is recommended that you use the [[WindowExternal]] tutorial for this next part, as you will not be spoonfed copypaste code.''

Now whenever the client opens it will automatically send you into the game, but you also have to worry about people who want to open the client to browse the site, but you could easily use the bootstrapper to open it using
-browser

Vortex was a revival that was made in August 8, 2025 as a 2008 revival. It is now a 2010M revival that has both a regular client and a web client. Cheaseman2092 is the lead developer. It was one of the first 2009L and 2010M revivals. It's also one of the only revivals that have access to RBXGS2010 right at this moment.
== History ==
== Controversies ==
=== 2026 ===
*February 2026 - TheRealHayder was a racist and stole from VORTEX. He got fired.
*June 2026 - The owner was banned from GOODBLOX 3 for transphobia.
*July 2026 - Flaky4678 was a racist and was transphobic. He apologized, and got both fired and banned.
*August 2026 - The radmin gets leaked.
== Former Administrators ==
Afton - got fired for contributing nothing to the revival.

Redboi - quit the ORC entirely.

TheRealHayder - fired after being a racist and stole from VORTEX.

Flaky4678 - being both racist and transphobic.

Bouldrr - being a mod at triaxx.

Eric - being a zara alt.

Tico - Doing nothing to contribute to the revival.

EnergyZack - got fired for contributing nothing to the revival.

𝕍𝟘𝕍𝕏ℍ - ウイルス - got fired for contributing nothing to the revival.
Once you run the .msi file, you should complete the installation

If you experience an error, it will likely require you to run the installer as administrator or to install an early version of IIS

You should find a WebService.dll file, which if you change to .exe, will work as a CLI tool that you can run via cmd

== Educational use ==
Note: Earlier RCCs typically require some sort of container such as RBXGSconhost

=== TO START ===
Once successfully installed, go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\ROBLOX Corporation\RCCService
(where it should be located)

Open up cmd and run the following commands to get your RCCService/RBXGS instance running

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ROBLOX Corporation\RCCService
rccservice.exe -console

If you see the following error:

''Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.''

Sift through your task manager and try to find a running RCCService instance, and close it, then run the command again.

You should now see

Intializing Roblox Web Service
setAssetFolder C:\ProgramData\Roblox\content\
Service Started on port 64989
Press ESC key to exit

=== TO INTERACT (TEST) ===
Download [https://github.com/vf9r/RCCService/blob/main/SoapUI.exe SoapUI]

Change
SOAP Action
to
HelloWorld

Press Execute

You should now see HelloWorld in your RCCService console

=== TO RENDER ===
Change
SOAP Action
to
OpenJob

print(game:GetService('ThumbnailGenerator'):Click("PNG", 500, 500, true))

When completed, you should see a big blob of text in your console, which you must copy entirely and paste somewhere like [https://base64.guru/converter/decode/image this] to view.

Do not paste in the
table: 040DED08
with your base64 blob or it will break.
When completed, you should see a big blob of text in your console, which you must copy entirely and paste somewhere like [https://base64.guru/converter/decode/image this] to view.

Do not paste in the
table: 040DED08
with your base64 blob or it will break.

== Production use ==

=== TIPS ===

== Explanation ==

* A buffer overflow is a memory vulnerability where custom or legacy engine code can be exploited by inputting more data than a buffer can handle. It's like a RCE but worse. That's why you need to patch this. To prevent this, you need to patch this.

== How it works ==

* '''CRoblox''': Detours
CRobloxApp::InitInstance
and
CRobloxCommandLineInfo::ParseParam
to allow authentication and join-script command line arguments.

* '''Context''': Adds verbose (or, at the very least, easier-to-understand) error messages for permission checks. '''This is only enabled when Lure is compiled as Debug.'''

* '''Crypt''': Adds SHA256 support for signature verification and patches a buffer overflow.

* '''Http''': Detours
Http::trustCheck
and
Http::httpGetPostWinInet
. Replaces the trustcheck with a custom check wherein you can include your own domains. Also redirects the
/asset
,
/Thumbs/Asset.ashx
, and
/Thumbs/Avatar.ashx
endpoints to their modern Roblox counterparts.

* '''ServerReplicator''': Enables ticket authentication by hooking
ServerReplicator::processTicket
and
ServerReplicator::sendTop
. Note that this has generally only been tested on 2011 releases.

* '''StandardOut''': Detours
StandardOut::print
to a console window. '''This is only enabled if Lure is compiled as Debug.'''
|URL schemes that are allowed;
http
,
https
, etc. This is only for proper URLs.

|
PUBLIC_KEY

Other preprocessor configuration is just addresses to subroutines. '''You may define
RESOLVE_OFFSETS
if the client obfuscates address locations on startup; Lure will find the addresses for you.'''

== Tutorial for building the DLL. ==

For this tutorial we will need to use vcpkg.

Copy this into git.

git clone https://github.com/lrre-foss/lure

Write the classes and all that.

Once you're done, open Visual Studio.

Then, select '''Open a local folder''' and open the place where GIT cloned Lure to.

Visual Studio will already detect Lure.sln and open vcpkg.

Set your build configuration type to debug.

Finally, build the dll.

== Tutorial for hooking the DLL. ==

* Copy the output DLL file to where you are keeping the Roblox executable (usually named
RobloxApp.exe
)

* Open the Roblox executable with StudPE (File -> Open PE File)

* Go to the '''Functions''' tab

* Right click in the left panel and click '''Add New Import'''.

* Click '''Dll Select''' and browse to
Lure.dll
in your Roblox folder

* Click '''Select func.''' and select
import
from the list that appears

* Click
Add to list
, then click
ADD
at the bottom

* Close the program by clicking
OK
. This will also save the patches to the executable file
Vortex was a revival that was made in August 8, 2025 as a 2008 revival. It is now a 2010M revival that has both a regular client and a web client. Cheaseman2092 is the lead developer. It was one of the first 2009L and 2010M revivals.
== History ==
== Controversies ==
=== 2026 ===
== Former Administrators ==
Afton - got fired for contributing nothing to the revival.

* Copy the output DLL file to where you are keeping the Roblox executable (usually named
RobloxApp.exe
)

* Open the Roblox executable with StudPE (File -> Open PE File)
== Tutorial for building the DLL. ==

For this tutorial we will need to use vcpkg.

Copy this into git.<syntaxhighlight>

git clone https://github.com/lrre-foss/lure

</syntaxhighlight>Write the classes and all that.

RobloxApp.exe
)

* Open the Roblox executable with StudPE (File -> Open PE File)

* Go to the '''Functions''' tab

* Right click in the left panel and click '''Add New Import'''.

* Click '''Dll Select''' and browse to
Lure.dll
in your Roblox folder

* Click '''Select func.''' and select
import
from the list that appears

* Click
Add to list
, then click
ADD
at the bottom

* Close the program by clicking
OK
. This will also save the patches to the executable file
